REPORT: Columbus Crew To Face Northern Invasion 2,200 Strong
Published 3/5/2008 by Rumor Mill at MLS Rumors - For the time between the games
... Sadly, Toronto FC's front office seems a bit afraid that the reverse may occur and so they are restricting away supporters groups to no more than 100 tickets. ...
Limits on Away Support in MLS

If you've never checked out Tom Dunmore's excellent fan-centric blog Pitch Invasion you really should go there, like, now. He's done a thought-provoking piece on the need for American & Canadian clubs to embrace the atmosphere and energy that comes from having traveling supporters from opposing teams in the stadium. It's a sentiment that has been echoed before and one that I happen to agree with. You can read the entire piece here and as always I would encourage you to chime in on the subject using the comments section below. The author says it best so I won't paraphrase his ...

... Tom Dunmore at Pitch Invasion with a very interesting article on a situation brewing with tickets and supporters sections who want to travel. Of course this a great new growing aspect of MLS. But while Toronto is going to be sending hundreds upon hundreds of fans to some away games, they will only sell 100 tickets to away teams supporters at BMO Field (I know they sell out every home game well in advance, but believe me, if they had 500 corporate schmucks wanting seats for ass-kissing they would get it done). And Toyota Park has decided to only sell 100 tickets to ...
MLS Restricting Away Supporters

... . One of the more hotly discussed items yesterday was the talk about the MLS restricting club supporters for away games this season. A great article over at Pitch Invasion got the topic going yesterday with plenty of other sites chiming in on the issue. What seems to be the issue is that clubs like Toronto and Chicago will only be allowing 100 tickets for away supporters this season. Most should know that Toronto supporters will be traveling in full force later this month to start the season against Columbus. I’ve heard upwards of 2,000 Red Patch Boys and U-Sector groups ...
TFC this week —–

... yesterday, but unfortunately they had lost to 4-3 in what i hear was a barnburner. • My man Tom Dunmore over at the Pitch Invasion wrote about 2000+ fans going down to Columbus on opening day, and MLSE reluctance to give up more than 100 away fans to the opposition fans. • TFC draft pick ...
TGIF: The traveling MLS fan

... As some of you may have seen, Toronto FC has turned down an initial request by the Chicago Fire supporter's group Section 8 for 500 tickets to the Fire-Toronto FC match at BMO Field in October. Tom Dunmore at Pitch Invasion does a good job of laying out the situation, which is probably why I had multiple readers email the piece. ...
The Away Supporters Flap

My man Kenn has the definitive and rational take on the MLS away supporters “controversy” of last week that was first reported at Pitch Invasion and quickly taken up by Ives and many of the other MLS bloggers (while I slept).
A club’s first responsibility is to its supporters. Kudos to Toronto for being able to sell boatloads of tickets to Torontonians (who, oh, by the way, do just fine creating their own atmosphere, thank you very much). It’s a foreign concept (no pun intended) to most MLS markets, this idea that you ...
All For One

... That’s caused a bit of controversy, actually, related to the number of seats that the club allocates for away supporters. It’s a tough call: obviously the owners would prefer to have guaranteed seat sales rather than potential ones, and with only 4,000 seats available for single-game sales (probably not even that much, because I think they were also selling partial season packages), there's not a lot of wiggle room. On the other hand, it probably wouldn’t hurt them to set aside a larger block for away supporters and then release the unsold tickets for walk-up sales on game day. ...
