Rosenthal's Latest: Gross, Rios, Perez
MLB Rumors - MLBTradeRumors.com — The tireless Ken Rosenthal has another column up today. Not a whole ton in the way of trade rumors, but let's see what we can salvage from the article. The A's could be a team interested in trading for the Brewers' Gabe Gross, who is the likely casualty once Mike Cameron returns from suspension. Gross can play all three outfield positions, and it's not clear whether the A's view him as a roving fourth outfielder, or a replacement for Emil Brown. Rosenthal notes that the Blue Jays are following the lead of David Eckstein, hustling like crazy to first base. This, he notes, keeps fielders on their ...

Cubs Fans the Most Obnoxious in Baseball? Hardly.
EveryJoe » Sports Rumors — Maybe, just Marty Brennaman doesn’t want Hank Steinbrenner to feel like the only guy in MLB who speaks before he thinks. Why else would Brennaman, announcer for the since-when-are-they-so-great Cincinnati Reds, go on the radio in Chicago and call Cubs fans “brain-dead”? That isn’t even the worst of it, or the part that gets our red paisley Victoria’s Secret thong in a bunch. It’s the fact that Brennaman called Cubs fans “the most obnoxious fans” in baseball. Excuse me? What about Boston Red Sox fans? What about fans of the ...

Ollie Could Cash In
Hot Foot — Today at Fox Sports.com Ken Rosenthal writes that if Oliver Perez wins 15 games like he did last year because of his age, only 27, Perez could really cash in on the free agent market this off season. Rosenthal also adds some insight into Jose Reyes and his head first slides, quoting manager Willie Randolph saying of Jose style, he dives into bases “like a missile.” Hat tip to MTR.com for the link. Tuesday Grab Bag
Drunk Jays Fans — The Walt Disney World Series is upon us, and the stakes have never been higher for a series between the Jays and the Rays. Who will be forced to stop calling Upton the Beej? Who will continue on using the nickname for BJ Ryan even if the Jays lose? Over the course of the next three days we'll find out! In honour of the Walt Disney World Series, I'm participating in an exchange of five questions with the awesome dudes over at Rays Bay. My answers are already up on their site, but because my stupid work blocks Gmail, I won't be able to access and post RJ's answers to my questions until later tonight. Oooh! And he sets the hook! (Aside: Since when did the Beej start ...

Rangers Quote Of The Week: 4/23 Bonus Edition
Texas Rangers — Courtesy of Anthony Andro’s Fort Worth Star-Telegram game story this morning: “It’s getting a little monotonous, every single day seeing the same thing. You come out, you play lethargically and nothing changes. I wish I had the words to say what it is. We need to pitch better. We need to hit better in the clutch. It seems like right now everything’s going wrong for us.” Outfielder Frank Catalanotto, commenting on last night’s 10-2 defeat at the hands of the rapidly improving Detroit Tigers. After starting their 2008 campaign 5-4, the Texas Rangers have now dropped 10 of their last 12 games, with the lone ...

THT Live:Cashman should bolt
hardballtimes.com 4/22/2008 — Ken Rosenthal thinks that Hank Steinbrenner's Yankees don't deserve general manager Brian Cashman , and throws out some teams he could land (Phillies, Nationals, Dodgers) at if he leaves the team after his contract expires at the end of the season.
