Great setup and all...I'm not so sure I like the breakdown of which team got the most picks in each round before picks are saved. I can see these stats influencing some picks.

Well ... the odds are actually supposed to influence the picks.  With even odds, nobody in his right mind would pick--say--Philadelphia to win out.  But at the right price, even a low-seeded Eastern Conference team is (theoretically) worth betting on.

It's supposed to. It sets up the risk/reward formula, just like the regular season pick 'em game. The strategy is knowing when to go against the grain and pick an upset. The more votes for a favorite, the greater reward for a successful pick of the underdog.

It don't matter, it's gonna be a 1983 redux and I'm gonna be the only one with the Sixers.

CelticsBlog - NBA Section — ... last two years, predictions in the range of 40-42 wins have been the kiss of death. This year was even worse the 7 near-.500 predictions were off by a whopping 12 wins. NBA Playoff PredictionsStr8Hoops NBA Blog
Its been a while since I’ve posted, but I am reinvigorated for the playoffs. An amazing NBA season came to a somewhat uneventful end. NBA Playoffs Preview and PredictionsEast Coast Bias
From our West Coast correspondent, Michael Prodanovich... As one of the few real NBA fans left, and as one who has seen almost every good Western Conference game, I feel a duty to give a preview, especially since this years West playoffs will be some of the best basketball ever played. All 8 teams in the West playoffs won at least 50 games, and the 48-34 Warriors were left out in the cold. ...

The Denver Nuggets, for instance, have the league’s third and fourth leading ...

Hey, the NHL playoffs start tonight!  All right!  I'm not actually excited, but I'm genuinely happy for the hockey fans who get to enjoy the Stanley Cup Playoffs, which are somehow even longer than the NBA playoffs, which I didn't think was possible because the NBA playoffs go on for like 5 months.
