Kris +1Matt Garza (#21) isn't necessarily a mainstay in the rotation yet. He's battling guys like Carlos Silva, Ramon Ortiz and Sidney Ponson for a spot at the end of the rotation...wait a minute, maybe he IS a mainstay.

... Baseball America has posted its Top 100 propsects. It appears to be available to non-subscribers so click through via this this link and check it out. I doubt there will be any surprises following the relaes of John Sickel's Top 50 Hitters and Pitchers, Baseball Notebook's Top 100, and Baseball Prospectus' list. Throw-in various other lists, and there should be few stones left unturned.

... Baseball America ranked Tampa Bay thirdbaseman Evan Longoria as its 7th best prospect in the minor leagues. I suspect this will be one of the most contoversial rankings this year. Looking over their list, there are a total of six 3B who Misters Callis, Manuel, Lingo and Kline guess will arrive in the majors this season.

... Baseball America's Top 100 Prospects has Matsuzaka as the #1 prospect. I suppose that's true, insofar as Daisuke hasn't proven anything at the major league level. But it's still odd to think of players as old as Daisuke as prospects. Ellsbury (#33), Buchholz (#51), Bard (#81) and Bowden (#83) round up the Sox representation in the top.

Baseball America, the undisputed experts on MLB prospects, recently released their 2007 Top 100 Prospects rankings. The Rockies placed a total of eight players on the list, from Troy Tulowitzki at #15 to Chris Iannetta at #92. The Rox finished with one more player than Tampa Bay, which saw seven prospects from its number one ranked farm system make the list.
