Basketball- This one is too close to call
Two teams that feature young all-stars in the frontcourt, two teams that rely on perimeter shooting and two teams that will tip off their best-of-seven series Sunday afternoon in the land of Disney. Too bad one has to lose in an opening-round matchup that is too close to call, at least on paper. It has been said ad nauseam, but it bears repeating that the post-season ushers in a new season, ...

There’s no favorite in this series
Arsenalist — ... If there is a series where everybody has little clue which way its going to go, it has to be the Raptors vs. Magic. At best one can say that it might go 7 games given the makeup and recent history of the two teams. Orlando has lost 7 of the last 9 against us but did finish well above us in the standings but the highly similar structure of the two teams (PF + shooters) makes this one too close to call. The Raptors clear cut advantage lies in the point guard position but it’s anybody’s guess how well we’ll be utilizing that advantage. ...

Linkage - April 18
The AltRaps Blog — In fact, Calderon has not committed a single turnover in 142 consecutive minutes. That streak dates back to April 4, when the Raptors lost in New Jersey. In the season finale on Wednesday in Chicago, Calderon extended the streak with 30 minutes of turnover-less basketball. He also had eight assists, boosting his league-best assist-per-turnover ratio to 5.44. That is the seventh highest ratio since the league started keeping that stat in 1989. The only other Raptor to lead the league in one of their main statistical categories this season was Jason Kapono, the two-time defending three-point champ, who lead the league in three-point FG% with a .483 percentage. ...

Dinosaurs Facing Extinction (Again): Orlando Magic vs. Toronto Raptors Playoff Preview
emptythebench.com 4/18/2008 — Let’s be honest: this is hardly a sexy matchup. Aside from All-Star Chris Bosh, the Toronto Raptors hold about as much appeal to the casual NBA fan as John McCain does to a women’s liberal arts college. Orlando hasn’t had much to play for since early March, so it’ll be interesting to see if they can flip the high-intensity switch back on and dominate a team that’s ripe for the taking.
