Bayless: Right to the point Links5
Like an anxious kid at Christmas, Nate McMillan on Monday kept peeking through the blinds of his office to see if his latest gift had arrived on the Trail Blazers practice court. Jerryd Bayless, the Blazers' touted first-round draft pick, was due to report to the team at any second, and McMillan couldn't wait. "I'm anxious to measure him up, to see his body and to see what his makeup is," ... [link]

Quick Notes

Jason Quick squeezed a good nugget in the notes section of his article today regarding Nate McMillan's vision of the starting and reserve units heading into next season: If the season started today, McMillan said he would envision a starting unit of Steve Blake, Brandon Roy, Martell Webster, LaMarcus Aldridge and Greg Oden. Speaking of summer league, Blazers assistant coach Monty Williams will be coaching the team in Vegas, and they'll start their mini-camp on Wednesday. We weren't too awfully pumped about summer league, but that was before Bayless, of course pending league approval of the trade (I'm trying to be a good boy). The summer league roster has not yet been released (I'll get it in the blog as soon as it is) but Jason Quick mentioned in his article today that Diogu will be on the summer league, for two ...

Blazers Odds & Ends

Couple quick things today… Please, leave Nate McMillan alone. If you didn’t see it at the end of Jason Quick’s story today over at OregonLive.com, Mac-10 astonishingly turned down a chance to talk about an extension of his contract today. Gavin Dawson was all over this on the radio. Dave at Blazer’s Edge nailed it, as usual, today. Its easy to want to play amateur psychologist when news likes this comes out and we all have to worry that everything isn’t perfect at One Center Court, but we should all relax. There isn’t an agent in the land that would have allowed his client to sell low like ...

... Few are talking about it, but this is the second issue with potential impact on our short-term roster.  Yesterday's report from Jason Quick indicated--in a half-phrase aside--that Koponen would not be on the Blazers’ roster this year.  This conflicts with the last we heard about Petteri’s desires.  The Blazers do have open roster spots at the moment and it’s conceivable that Petteri could play himself into one with an excellent ...
