Pitcher Josh Beckett has been diagnosed with strained right elbow and placed on the 15-day DL, according to the Red Sox. The move is retroactive to Aug. 18.
Terry Francona will elaborate on the news shortly.

Although Beckett's examination had "awesome" results (Beckett's own word) and apparently couldn't have gone any better, the Sox ultimately decided a few more days off couldn't hurt. Rumors have Beckett's trip being solely a matter of consolation for the Sox ace, who was said to be increasingly nervous over the tingling in his arm. ...
