EthanJaynes Wow! This is pretty low. -
Erin Both girls are adorable. That's pretty sad that at this age, the girls are already being sorted into pretty and prettier when it was supposedly a talent competition.-
EthanJaynes The Olympic Motto is "Citius, Altius, Fortius" (faster, higher, stronger). This decision was "Slow, Low, and Weak".

TonyP Absolutely ridiculous. I am a Chinese American and I'm extremely embarressed by this incident. How do you think that seven-year old feels when she was told that she was too ugly to sing at the ceremony despite her talent? The problem with Chinese culture is that they take everything so seriously that they miss out on the human component which is what the Olympics is all about. It is despicable that they employ such base "tactics" on a girl so young.

Milli Vanilli, meet Beijing
The Meaningful Collateral —
If this is the worst thing the Beijing folks do, the games will be considered a success. Still, it’s pretty damn funny.
Apparently the girl on the left in the picture below sang at the Opening Ceremonies. Sang damn well. So well everyone in China is going gaga and loving her and deeming her the queen of the universe.
Problem? She lip synced - girl on the right actually sang the words.

CHINESE OLYMPIC PING PONG TEAM, LIP SYNCING SCANDAL, VIDEO
Epic Carnival | Where Sports and Pop Culture Collide —
... I am sure we have all heard of the Chinese Olympic opening ceremony lip syncing scandal. This new scandal just broke. It appears that lip syncing is more rampant in China than it is in the Jessica/Ashley Simpson household. I found this video while surfing the interweb. I can not believe it has not been posted yet. The Chinese Olympic Ping Pong Team was involved in a lip syncing scandal of their own. ...
Spanish national team: "Eh? Whatever."
Basketbawful —
... Honestly, I don't think the Spaniards meant any offense, either. But, man, it sure was stupid, wasn't it? I try to remain almost completely ignorant of foreign relations, but even I know that the Chinese people (or, perhaps more accurately, the Chinese government) are a bit touchy about how they're regarded around the world. Heck, they wouldn't even show the little girl who sang their anthem at the opening ceremonies because she's too ugly. ...
