Roy the All-Star

... Antonio), Yao Ming (Houston), Kobe Bryant (L.A. Lakers) and Allen Iverson (Denver). Rounding out the squad from the head coaches' vote are Carlos Boozer (Utah), Steve Nash (Phoenix), Dirk Nowitzki (Dallas), Chris Paul (New Orleans), Amare Stoudemire (Phoenix) and David West (New Orleans). The 2008 NBA All-Star Game tips off at 5:30 p.m. (Pacific) on Sunday, Feb. 17, from New Orleans Arena. The event will be televised live on TNT and broadcast in over 200 countries. True Hoop has the list of the snubbed stars. And while B-Roy makes his first (hopefully of many) All-Star game, ...
The NBA doesn't know its all-stars
Published 2/1/2008 by Loren at Pure Point
Take a good long look at that picture, which came at the bottom of an e-mail that I got from the NBA. See if you can find anything peculiar about it. Apparently, when Allen Iverson went on a tear (voting-wise) to miraculously overtake Tracy McGrady during the last leg of All-Star voting, no one bothered to tell the people making that banner. To add insult to injury, not only is T-Mac not starting the All-Star Game, he wasn't even selected as a reserve. So, all in all, the NBA is sending out e-mails promoting Tracy McGrady and the 2008 NBA ...

Joe Johnson vs. Hedo Turkoglu: The Tale of the Tape

... Other Expressions of Outrage Henry Abbott at TrueHoop: Hedo Turkoglu In what was supposed to be the season he became redundant (thanks to the arrival of Rashard Lewis), Turkoglu instead became resplendent. He freaks out defenses by being a tremedous shooter and slashing with grace. But most importantly, he is the best Magic player at getting the ball to Dwight Howard in a position where he can use it. He's also a go-to guy in the clutch. I'd take him over Hamilton, Kidd, gimpy Wade, and right there with ...
All-Star Reserves, Jason Kidd, the Spurs, and the Hornets

... West All-Star reserves: As I’m writing this, I notice that Henry has a list of snubs going on True Hoop, many of whom I don’t think deserved to be in N’awlins anyway. I like picking David West, simply because the game is in NO and they’re currently the best team in the West, but you’ve got some big, big names staying home. Baron Davis is an All-Star just as much (if not more) than Brandon Roy right now. I admit that Roy has been truly great at times, but Baron is finally playing great in the regular-season, injury-free. I ...

... West were not deserving despite the great season each is having. Out East I would argue for Jose Calderon (second in the East in assists, and a no-brainer in my opinion), Andre Iguodala (second in the East in steals and nearly a 20-5-5 guy who plays great D) and Josh Smith (leading the East in blocks and leading the NBA in blocks and steals combined). In the West I would have preferred to see Baron Davis make it. The man is a bull. For a more in-depth look at the snubs, check out Henry Abbott’s rundown off all the guys crying in their beers tonight. If you’re looking for more ...

I m not so bothered by the fact that Ray Allen was snubbed for the All Star game. He hasn t had his best year thus far and there were other deserving players (though I see Pierce s point about Joe Johnson). What really bothers me is that I have to find a more creative way around overusing the term big three (still in lower case until they win a title). I sometimes default to three All Stars but that isn t really current anymore. I may have to add perennial to the front of that for it to make sense. Is there any snack more addictive than Oreos? If I had a ...
