Randy Johnson Benefits From Roger Clemens' Contract
FanHouse —
... told reporters at Shea last weekend. Since Clemens signed with the Yankees and was given the freedom to leave the team on days he is not pitching, Johnson has gotten the same kind of privileges from the Diamondbacks. He has not accompanied the team to the past two cities in which he was not scheduled to pitch. Part of me wants to get upset at this ... but another part of me thinks it's probably a good idea when you're dealing with pitchers on the wrong side of 40. You hear about pitchers tweaking their back sleeping on hotel beds all the time, so what's the point of putting a couple of geriatrics risk? Just so the cameras can pan over to them eating sunflower seeds in the dugout? (via Ben Maller )
