Billy Packer’s Greatest Call: “This Game Is Over”
Will UNC rally to make Packer look like a jackass? (No need to turn this one into a game thread - let’s keep the chatter on the other one.)

*Now* It's Over, Billy
Vegas Watch — (If you don't get the reference in the title, go here.) Kansas 84, North Carolina 66 Wow. The difference in this game was defense, especially on the interior. Both of these teams have all kinds of weapons on offense, we knew that coming in. UNC's offense is probably a little better, but it's close. Defensively, KU is in another league. I don't think there's a group of guards in the country that are better on D than Chalmers, Rush, and Robinson. Ty Lawson was a complete non-factor- 2/8 from the field, 2 assists, 2 ...

Billy Packer Knows More Than CBS Pollsters: Women Don't Support Hillary Clinton
sports.aol.com 4/4/2008 — CBS Sports analyst Billy Packer will call his 100th Final Four game on Saturday, and you'd think all the preparation would keep him pretty busy. But he's not too busy to do something that I find downright creepy -- walk up to complete strangers, all ...
Billy Packer Explains His “This Game is Over” Call
thebiglead.com 4/7/2008 — By now, you’ve obviously seen the replay: Brandon Rush buried a triple in transition to give Kansas a startling 38-12 lead over North Carolina Saturday night, and Billy Packer exclaimed, “This game is over,” even though ...
Where Does The Mario Chalmers Shot Rank In NCAA History?

"Rock, Chalk, Championship"AwfulAnnouncing
Yep. Jim Nantz doesn't prepare these things ahead of time at all. With that established I thought that Nantzy did a pretty great job tonight. During the Chalmers three he finally showed raw emotion and let himself go. It only took an overtime game in the National Championship but it still happened. My advice to you Jim, remember that feeling and try to relive it. Billy Packer is another ...
Memphis blows its free throws, just like Houston in '83Sports stories from Newsday
Wow. That was fun. I was surprised given the many mentions Jim Nantz and Billy Packer made of long-ago games and players down the stretch that an obvious reference did not come up: That was much the same way North Carolina State beat Houston 25 years ago in another championship game classic - by fouling early and often, and taking advantage when the opponent botched its free throws.  ...
Billy Packer And Jim Nantz: Pressure Editionwrigleyville23
Billy and Jim seemed convinced that it was the "pressure" at the free throw line that doomed Memphis tonight in the national championship game against Kansas. I know that because they said the word "pressure" 87 times in the final five minutes of regulation. I have an alternative theory, however. Maybe - just maybe - it was because they reverted to form as a crappy free throw shooting team . ...
We're owed a competitive game, and we're getting itThe Dagger
Notes on a first half that was finely crafted by generous basketball gods... • I find it interesting that in CBS's opening "let's get you fired up" montage, not one of the exciting audio clips they mixed in were spoken by Billy Packer. When they want someone to add an element of excitement, they think of everyone but Billy Packer. And yet, when they think of the best ...
Kansas vs Memphis: National Championship Game Predictions and Open ThreadFanIQ Blog
First things first -- let's give Ken Pomeroy a pat on the back. The #1 and #2 in his rating will be squaring off tonight. Based on how Kansas and Memphis played Saturday night this could go down as one of the most entertaining championship games in a long time. I think we can also assume that Billy Packer won't be calling this game over with seven minutes remaining the first half . Now ...

Billy Packer Doesn't Regret Saying "It's Over!"FanHouse
If you were watching Kansas take North Carolina behind the woodshed during the first half on Saturday night, you're surely familiar with this particular moment. Despite Kansas's best efforts, Billy Packer avoided the ignominy of having such a bold prediction come back to haunt him. Michael Hiestand of USA Today spoke to him after the game to see if he regretted making a call that may ...

Athens, GA (Apr 7, 2008) - Yes, you read that headline right. I did not make that one up. It was the question asked in a Google search last week that landed the German visitor to this site. As expected, Jim Nantz will be on Play-By-Play, and Billy Packer doing color (is this his last Final Four ...
One last shining moment for this season. . .Rush The Court
After Saturday night’s blowouts, we can only hope that tonight’s title bout will give us a great game to finish off the season. I think both teams have too much talent to get blown out, but I never would have expected UNC to fall behind 40-12 before nearly making Billy Packer look like an ass (again). I’ll offer my take and hopefully rtmsf will add his too later. Aside ...
Didn't See THAT ComingSportsfrog.com
In my defense, who did? 40-12. And Billy Packer declaring the game over, with 7:32 left in the first half. All Kansas. UNC made the run that everyone had to know they would to make it a game, but, as is often the case, the energy it took to get back left them to drained to finish it off. Actually, as tight as Kansas was playing (and rightfully so) when the Heels drew within four in the ...
Packer Ruins His 100th Final Four GameMr. Irrelevant
Before Memphis and UCLA had tipped, and after Jim Nantz’ said “hello” to “friends,” Billy Packer was congratulated on what would be his 100th Final Four game. Surely someone has penned a more informed, researched diatribe on all that is Billy Packer , ...
This Game is Over!!!Play is Under Review
Have you ever been in a social situation where everyone is having a good time and then someone makes a comment that just kills the mood? They looked quicker and more efficient. Let's face it, they were ...
"This Game Is Ovah": Billy Packer?!?Dan Shanoff
"This game is ovah." That is what Billy Packer just muttered... at the 7:32 mark of the first half of the UNC-Kansas game, with Kansas up a hundred. OK, it only feels like a hundred. It's 26. I'm no Packer fan, but that was just about the awesomest thing I have ever heard a TV analyst say this early in a broadcast. It was so... definitive. And so early. Normally, they are encouraged not to ...
Your Final Four Game ThreadThe Big Lead
We’ve finally arrived. Memphis and UCLA tip off at 6:07 EDT and Jim Nantz and all around good humanitarian Billy Packer have the call. The Tigers still only have 1 loss on the season and ripped through UT Arlington, Mississippi State, Michigan State and Texas to get to this point. UCLA is 35-3 and beat Mississippi Valley State, Texas A&M, Western Kentucky and Xavier. Kevin Love ...
What Your Television Is Doing This WeekendThe Sporting Blog
By Brian Powell The Final Four: CBS' ratings for the Tournament have been down as a whole, but they can make up for all of that when they air all four No. 1 seeds tomorrow. Only two final contests have been close in ...
