All it took was 1 2/3 innings yesterday, for Oliver Perez to sink the Mets against the punchless Pirates. It was the Mets who looked like a ship of fools and not the Pirates who are the worst team in the league. It seems like every time Perez takes the mound he demoralizes his team by his lack of focus and care free attitude after each loss. His presence on the mound virtually sends ...When Southpaws Attack

Art Howe would probably say that Oliver Perez battled. Then again, Art Howe would probably say the same thing about the moth that met its demise at the hands of my bedroom light bulb. It only matters what Billy Wagner thinks at this point. And I can't imagine that Wagner would have a disparaging word about Ollie's effort on Monday night. After all, he did go six innings and saved the bullpen ...Postgame: Mets 1 Dodgers 5

The Mets were defeated tonight by the Dodgers by a score of 5-1. For a full box score, check out SNY.TV . Well, Oliver Perez pitched better, but not well. Perez lasted 6 innings, which should please Billy Wagner , and brought his walks down to a very reasonable 2. Unfortunately, the pitches over the plate were hit a long way to the tune of 3 HRs. Perez finished with 5 ER and 3K. Show and ...Game 30- Open Thread: Mets at Dodgers

The Mets are feeling good coming off their series win against the red hot Diamondbacks. They will try to build on that and gain some momentum when they kick off a three-game series in Los Angeles Monday night. Randolph didn't exactly tell Wagner to tone it down in the future, but maybe think first. Said Wagner: ``It's been taken care of.'' You know things are hitting the skids when Billy Wagner is seizing the reigns as Clubhouse leader by eviscerating Oliver Perez's pathetic career-worst-tying 1 2/3 -inning outing in which he walked five, gave up two hits and yielded seven runs, all in the second, although five were unearned. It seems to me that Oliver Perez is comfortable in his own shoes after his implosion and the 13-1 lose yesterday. Oliver Perez was quoted saying, " He just did not have it, Anybody can have a bad day". Though Jose Reyes and Angel Pagan hardly covered themselves in glory during the Mets’ 13-1 drubbing at the hands of the Pirates Wednesday afternoon, New York starter Oliver Perez (the box score says 5 walks but it felt like a hundred) is taking the bulk of the criticism today, much of it, funnily enough, from self-appointed club spokesman, Billy Wagner.
