The Wie camp says that's because she's recuperating from a wrist injury, but it's more likely because they know the way she's playing right now, she'd finish dead last, and they don't want to see that happen. The John Deere Classic says it will welcome her back whenever she wants to come back, and from the sponsor's point of view, that's a no-brainer: In terms of the media attention her presence gives a golf tournament, only Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson can match Wie. But the way she's playing right now, she'd make herself and the tournament look bad if she showed up.
