Blue Jays pick up pair of outfielders
The Blue Jays reeled in a pair of outfielders on Friday in an attempt to provide a boost to their bench. Toronto signed free-agent Brad Wilkerson and acquired Kevin Mench from Texas in exchange for cash considerations.

The Transaction Guy — Looking to add some punch to a middling offense, the Toronto Blue Jays added two outfield/DH options to the mix. Toronto signed Brad Wilkerson, recently released by the Seattle Mariners. The 30 year-old lefthanded hitter has a career .249/.354/.448 line, but Wilkerson has been slowed in recent years by shoulder problems. Wilkerson hit just .232/.338/.304 in 68 PA for the M’s in 2008. The Blue Jays also acquired Kevin Mench from the Texas Rangers for cash considerations.
