Looking to add some punch to a middling offense, the Toronto Blue Jays added two outfield/DH options to the mix.
Toronto signed Brad Wilkerson, recently released by the Seattle Mariners. The 30 year-old lefthanded hitter has a career .249/.354/.448 line, but Wilkerson has been slowed in recent years by shoulder problems. Wilkerson hit just .232/.338/.304 in 68 PA for the M’s in 2008.
The Blue Jays also acquired Kevin Mench from the Texas Rangers for cash considerations. The 30 year-old, who signed a minor league deal with the Rangers over the winter, is a career .271/.326/.465 hitter. Mench was hitting .282/.344/.464 at Triple-A Oklahoma.
