Some of you surely knew this, but for those who don't, the call made against Monta Ellis in overtime–for essentially being tackled by Derek Fisher–was made by Bob Delaney. Now, I'm not saying Bob Delaney has mob ties just because he once successfully infiltrated the mob. But I am saying that "Bobby Covert," as he was known back in the 1970s has been known to successfully play both sides of the ...The Kobe Left Cheek Bleeding Cut Awards

Josh Howard Last night’s 93-86 win over the Clippers did wonders for Mark Cuban’s recurring 4th quarter nightmares. In the final period on Sunday, his Mavs couldn’t guard Monta Ellis (30 points) with a broom, and Kelenna Azubuike was scoring like he was still at Kentucky - hitting two clutch shots down the stretch to send [...]Warriors looking for spark from bench players

All season the Golden State Warriors have been carried by Baron Davis , Stephen Jackson and Monta Ellis . Now, the Warriors' top two captains are calling for help. "We got to get somebody that you don't expect to show up to show up some nights," Jackson stressed after Golden State's loss to the Denver Nuggets on Saturday. "Teams are really starting to play us on our guys. They ...Ellis’ 30 Leads Warriors To Key Win Over Mavericks 114-104

The Golden State Warriors are getting some important wins as of late and need more of the same in order to stay relevant in the Western Conference playoff race; Sunday’s game against the Dallas Mavericks happened to be one of those games they sorely needed in the win column. Monta Ellis helped the Warriors’ cause, scoring 30 points, but it was Kelenna Azubuike as he hit two ...Not that it matters anymore, but...

Upon further review, Stu Jackson believes the refs missed the call at the end of Monday's win in Golden State. From the Contra Costa Times (via TrueHoop): With four seconds left in overtime, Delaney called an offensive foul on the Warriors' Monta Ellis, who collided with the Lakers' Derek Fisher and fell to the floor before the ball was in-bounded. So, I was informed by the league office that the NBA DOES NOT voluntarily release its opinion or analysis about controversial judgment calls. The offensive foul ref Bob Delaney called on Monta Ellis is considered a judgment call. The NBA only volunteers its analysis for specific rules violations or in serious circumstances. The league does, however, share its findings on controversial calls ...Tuesday Bullets

The Lakers and Warriors better meet in the playoffs. It's unbelievably fun to watch them play each other . If sports are an analogy for war, then the Warriors, it occurs to me, play the role of terrorists. They'll never rule, but they'll take somebody down with them. (Although, the way Warriors fans tell it, this one ended with Derek Fisher taking Monta Ellis down with him -- and getting ...Age Limits Are Unrealistic

There has been recent talk on ESPN.com (in J.A. Adande's chat and Henry Abbott's blog) regarding the NBA's age limit, which is currently set at 19. Points have been made that many of the primary MVP candidates Kobe, Bron, Garnett were high school-to-NBA guys. As are Dwight Howard, Amare Stoudemire, Tracy McGrady, Jermaine O'Neal and Monta Ellis, all successful NBAers. Of course, there ...Gulp (Warriors 106, Rockets 109)

Over my fan-blogging career I’ve written close to 350 posts. I’ve broken down my fair share of losses. By now, there are usually one or two things that go wrong that fall into the usual patterns. Earlier in the season when the Warriors followed an off game with a dominant one, I often called it inconsistency. Nearly 70 games into the 07-08 campaign, I now know better. I think it is safe to say that after the Golden State Warriors got spanked at Sacramento on Tuesday, they learned their lesson and in the process, found a whipping boy; the whipping boy (boys?) in question happened to be the Los Angeles Clippers as on Wednesday, Golden State shot 51.6% from the floor, while Stephen Jackson and Monta Ellis combined for ...K-Mart or Mississippi Bullet?

Be honest. Who would you rather have? Kevin Martin or Monta Ellis. Both are shooting guards. Both are dynamic scorers. Both have defensive weaknesses. After the Kings-Warriors game in Oakland, I would’ve said Monta. After Tuesday’s game at Arco, I’m not so sure. Ellis is electrifying and has so much room for growth.
