Yanks consider deal for Halos Hillenbrand?

... The Yankees have talked to the Angels about Shea Hillenbrand, a right-handed hitting first baseman they were interested in this past offseason when he was a free agent. Hillenbrand's playing time with the Angels has been reduced because of Casey Kotchman's emergence at the plate (.333, eight HRs, 35 RBIs). Hillenbrand signed a one-year deal worth $6.5 million last December with a club option for $6.5 million in 2008 that has a $500,000 buyout. The option becomes guaranteed if Hillenbrand reaches 600 plate appearances this year but that won't come into play because he only has 175 at-bats so far. ...

Yanks Interested In Hillenbrand
Published 6/18/2007 by RotoAuthority at MLB Rumors - MLBTradeRumors.com
... Don't ask me why, but the Yankees are interested in trading for benched Angels DH Shea Hillenbrand.  At $6.5MM with attitude issues and little defensive (plus questionable offensive) value, Hillenbrand is not exactly a hot commodity.  I imagine the Angels would not be asking for much and would probably eat some salary. ...

According to today's NY Post, the Yankees have talked to the LA Angels about acquiring Shea Hillenbrand. The Yankees spoke with Hillenbrand before the season, but he was looking for a multi-year deal and the Yankees didn't want to give more than a 1 year deal. The Angels gave him a 1 year deal with an option/buyout for 2008. The option would have been automatic had Hillenbrand reach 600 plate appearance this season. ...

The Most Punchable Face in Baseball May Be Heading to the Yankees

... Anyway, I always go with Shea Hillenbrand, AKA the Most Punchable Face in Baseball. I can totally see him getting in some cheap shots during a Sox-Yankees brawl, then jumping into the arms of Giambi or Posada. And now, whadaya know; according to The Post, the Yanks are actually considering signing Senorita Tough Guy. And I can't think of a better team for him to be on. ...
