BORAS: IT'S MANNY BEING MONEY - New York Post
Last updated: 7:12 am October 15, 2008 Posted: 3:17 am October 15, 2008 LOS ANGELES - Manny Ramirez is now treated like Barry Bonds. His home crowd loves him, even if the rest of the country considers him an affront to sports. You sense the opposition would rather throw the ball underhand to ... [link]

A little bit on Manny, Madonna, Rocket and a bad sign for the Red Sox
Published 10/15/2008 by Peter Abraham at The LoHud Yankees Blog
... Scott Boras told Joel Sherman that Manny deserves a six-year deal. If A-Rod gets paid until he’s 42, so should Manny. At least that is the logic. A team would have to be flat crazy to give Manny three years, never mind six. ...

Random thoughts on playoff baseball

... shadow of his 2007 playoff self, while Hughes and Kennedy are constantly hurt or getting shelled. Cano, for his part, got off to a terrible start in 2008 and didn’t improve defensively, while Cabrera got demoted. I’m not saying that Boston or New York should give up on any of these guys. But if you’re a Yankees or Red Sox fan, and you’re watching the Rays kick ass this week, it’s probably hard to feel excited about your team’s youth movement. Bad sign for the Dodgers: Scott Boras is already talking about Manny Ramirez’s free agent negotiations.

Six Years For Manny?

When the idea of a six-year contract for slugger Manny Ramirez first surfaced (from Manny himself), it was not considered a serious possibility.  However, the New York Post's Joel Sherman had a long conversation with Scott Boras, who strongly hinted that Manny legitimately deserves six years. Boras points to Barry Bonds and ...

Six years for Manny? Pass
Published 10/15/2008 by Andrew Vazzano (noreply@blogger.com) at The 'Ropolitans :: NY Mets Baseball Blog
My limit was three years, maybe with a team option for a fourth, based on good behavior. No way, now how would I be willing to put up with Manny for six years. Joel Sherman is reporting, after a long conversation with Manny Ramirez's agent, Scott Boras, that he is seeking a six-year deal. Too steep. Way too steep. Manny is undoubtedly one of the best hitters in the game, and he continues to show that every game he plays, but he complained his way out of Boston, a town that loved him, and is only on his best behavior as he plays for a contract. I understand chasing the money, and more power to him, but I think I'd go nuts if I had to ...

Bowa, Manny, Draft Picks, Pettitte

... Joel Sherman reports, here, that Manny Ramirez (or Scott Boras, at least) wants a six-year deal, taking him to age 42, like Alex Rodriguez.  Yes, but Alex Rodriguez isn’t a batsh*t insane clubhouse terror - buyer beware: I’m thinking that there won’t be any club options involved in any deal.  Manny refuses to recognize them so why bother? ...
