... One of the reasons that the Suns were very anxious to get Goran Dragic into the fold and now picked up a 3rd point guard, is that Steve Kerr has a plan to get Steve Nash into the playoffs well rested. He plans to play Nash in only 70 games during the season. With Nash turning 34, they feel that the rigors of playing in 81 games and averaging over 34 mpg is wearing him down before the Suns even get into the playoffs. They are hoping that Dragic is good enough that they will be able to rest Nash and have him fresh down the stretch. Nice plan if it works but Nash isn't so sure ...

... Scott Bordow of The East Valley Tribune: “Is Phoenix good enough that it can sit Nash for 12 games? “I don’t know,” Nash says. “Probably not.” There’s no probably about it. As good as newly imported backup Goran Dragic might become eventually, he’ll be a rookie this season. Then consider that the Suns expect Shaquille O’Neal to come down with one ailment or another and miss around 30 games. Finally, the Western Conference is a bear. Five teams are clearly superior to the Suns: The Los Angeles Lakers, New Orleans, San Antonio, Utah and Houston. Portland and Dallas are on ...
Steve Nash Doesn’t Think He’ll Get a Lot of Rest Next Season

Steve Nash is thirty-four years old, he has a bad back, and could use all of the rest that he can get if Phoenix plans to last longer than a single Playoff round next year. Management thinks they can get him to sit out 12 games of the seemingly interminable regular season; Nash, though, isn’t holding his breath.
From the East Valley Tribune:

Steve Nash resting up this season? Don't count on it.

... year, the Suns will need everything they've got to solidify a playoff spot. Sure, at 34, Steve Nash is getting older. But what are the Suns other real options here? Are they willing to let two un-proven rookies in Goran Dragic and Sean Singletary run the show for a team who, during the span of Nash's career, hasn't won 25% of their games when he sits? Frankly, I wouldn't recommend it. Sounds like Nash doesn't really see this dream formulating either. From the East Valley Tribune: “What do you think of (general manager) Steve Kerr’s plan to ...
Unsure About the Nash Rest Plan
CelticsBlog —
A Daily Babble Production Steve Nash is skeptical of the Suns' plan to increase his rest this season. Me too. The incredible reliance placed on Nash by the Suns to drive their high-octane offense over the last four seasons has certainly put its share of mileage on the 34-year-old point guard. This has lead to questions about whether some of the Suns' difficulties in recent postseasons could have been somewhat alleviated if Nash was a bit more well-rested over the course of the season. The idea of a fresher Nash for the playoffs is a nice one in principle. However, ...
