... write his blog for a week. Hmmm. I might go for this. Friend of Fang's Bites and fellow puckhead Ken Schott of the Schenectady Gazette tells us what's in store for Versus when the NHL season opener faces off on Thursday. Barry Horn of the Dallas Morning News says the Cowboys are 6 for 6 in the number one network TV broadcast teams doing their games this season. Barry also wonders why the Sporting News ranked Dallas-Fort Worth 3rd in its annual "Best Sports City" rankings. Boston was first if you're wondering. To Tom Hoffarth of the ...

... In a blatant act of pure homerism, I simply could not let this one go without acknowledging how sublimely inspired the folks at Sporting News truly are. Following on the heals of yet another playoff berth for our Red Sox, Boston has been named Best Sports City by Sporting News. There's actually a rhyme to their reasoning, taking into account won-lost records, post season appearances, power rankings and fan attendance. Clearly, an inspired group of folks at Sporting News. ...

Complete shocker: Boston named tops sports city
Published 10/8/2008 by Dan Lamothe, Red Sox Monster at Red Sox Monster - MassLive.com
Honestly, some things are just so anticlimatic. Considering that Boston sports fans came within an eyelash of watching their teams win the Super Bowl, NBA Finals and World Series within a calendar year, it comes as no surprise that the Sporting News has named ol' Dirty Water the top sports city in the land . The rankings -- contrived as these things tend to be -- were compiled "based on point values assigned to various categories, including but not limited to won-lost records, postseason appearances, applicable power ratings, number of teams and attendance," the magazine said. ...

What's better than this picture? I submit that there is nothing better. Unless somehow the picture also included puppies and rainbows.
Boston bests the Sports City field at #1, with Detroit/Ann Arbor, Dallas, New York and Philly filling out the top 5. Last on the list? Burlington, NC. I wonder why?
