The Globe has two nice interviews with Clay Buchholz and Daisuke Matsuzaka today. Matsuzaka talks about the learning curve for playing the MLB versus Japan: "But what happened last year was I couldn't time it as well, so I just felt like the fatigue just dragged on gradually all the way through September so I wasn't able to readjust. But for me I felt like it was a little bit off even from the beginning of spring training." Also, if you’ve always wanted to step up to the plate in Fenway, the next best option will be available this year at Game On!, where you can take some hacks in the visitor’s batting cage. Buchholz did talk though and one of the interesting things he said was that he beat a Phillies prospect in a race this winter. He also said he would be fined if he raced Jacoby Ellsbury in a 40-yard dash.
The truck arrived this morning at the minor league complex to be unloaded before heading over to City of Palms Park.

Clay Buchholz worked hard in the offseason on his strength and conditioning -- and also on watching lots of the "Hostel" movies and playing PlayStation3. Oh to have been a fly on the wall in the apartment he shared with Michael Bowden down in Florida this offseason...
It also looks like it's going to be a tighter battle for that Number 5 spot in the rotation between Clay and Julian Tavarez.
Jon Lester knows that being pencilled in to the rotation isn't good enough, he wants to prove he's ready to be written in the order in ink.
