What would the Daily Yankeeland be without a Johan Santana report? Joel Sherman of the NY Post says his sources indicate that the Red Sox are still in the lead to land the lefty. The absurdity of this is that it isn't an election. It doesn't matter who trails or leads. Hank Steinbrenner has continued to suggest the Yanks are in play for Santana, and a sense has percolated of a tug-of-war between Steinbrenner's willingness to surrender top youngsters and GM Brian Cashman's reluctance.
