Jonathon Papelbon already has broached the subject with his agents, Sam and Seth Levinson, and is familiar with the pros and cons that accompany locking up a long-term deal before the uncertainty of arbitration hits. He said that he hasn’t, however, been approached by the Red Sox regarding a new deal.
