Published 12/13/2007 by Leitch at Deadspin
It's always nice to have bad guys in sports, and there aren't many more reliable bad guys than those shady, mysterious characters who run the lower-tier bowl games. And you don't want to know how much money they're making.
The San Diego Union-Tribune reports that some of these bowl guys are raking in nearly $500 grand.
In 2002, Gary Cavalli earned $90,000 as executive of a new postseason game in San Francisco. In 2006, his compensation package was $362,018 for the game now called the Emerald Bowl. "Frankly, my compensation ...

... Bumpkin Booster Bolt BCS to Board, Bring ‘ball to Brontosauran Backwater Status! Well, as The Wizard of Odds and Deadspin pointed out, teams could probably make a lot more money involved if the bowl games no longer existed:
In 2002, Gary Cavalli earned $90,000 as executive of a new postseason game in San Francisco. In 2006, his compensation package was $362,018 for the game now called the Emerald Bowl.

... and Coach Tom O’Brien’s system and recruiting having a year to take root, there is a very good chance that this will be the last time the Wolfpack won’t be performing on a bowl stage for a long time. Just because the Pack isn’t bowling doesn’t mean that you won’t be watching any games this year. Today’s entry should serve as a pretty decent primer on the season’s events. Perhaps the most interesting bowl article that you will find has nothing to do with this year’s match-ups and is linked up in this entry. ...
