Little Joshua Irizarry , fresh off perhaps renting “Little Big League,” applied to be the head football coach of West Virginia, and last month got an adorable rejection letter back from the college. THE (MERIDEN, CT) RECORD-JOURNAL reports that after the 12-year-old boy from Southington, Connecticut wrote to WVU applying to be the coach, WVU president Michael Garrison wrote back, saying “the position has been filled by an ‘equally qualified candidate.’ “ Not sure what incoming head coach Bill Stewart feels about that comparison. Ah yes, I remember when I was 12 years old. A horribly awkward age…not yet a teenager, but not really a child, either. I mainly spent that year trading Pokemon cards, playing as a mediocre (but serviceable) shooting guard on a parks and rec basketball team, and learning to cope with the agony of being a Minnesota Vikings fan (that was the year they lost 41-0 to the Giants in the NFC Championship game…it’s been over seven years since that game, and it still stings).
