 Brad Ziegler Scouting Report Links0
Mike Pagliarulo's scouting report on A's rookie Brad Ziegler. I'm surprised they thought he could be a closer since his strikeout rate is so low. But I guess if you don't allow a run over 38 innings, you can pretty much do anything. [link]

What I wonder is when he started throwing from that angle.  Maybe he started at 3/4 when he was in high school, but has gradually gotten lower and lower until he reached the submarine level he's at now.  A lot of youth coaches don't really want to see their kids throwing from that angle, anyway.

Ziegler gave up a run tonight.  We'll call it the Dugout Central jink.

Remember that Keith Foulke was once the A's closer.  They are not afraid to put someone who doesn't strike out a lot of guys in that critical spot.  I'm not sure they'll need a closer for a long time though, especially when they have the depth to move a guy who can have a sub 3 era to the rotation.

While the guy's streak ended tonight, he's still having a great year.
