BRADY RESPONDS TO PLAX PREDICTION
Published 1/30/2008 by Mike Florio at ProFootballTalk.com
Earlier this week, Giants receiver Plaxico Burress predicted that his team will beat the Patriots in Super Bowl XLII by the score of 23-17. On Wednesday, Pats quarterback Tom Brady responded.“ We’re only going to score 17 points? ” Brady said, laughing. “OK. Is Plax playing defense? I wish he had said 45-42 and gave us a little credit for more points.” But Brady didn’t respond with any guarantees or predictions of his own. “I learned a lesson early in my career: No matter what you say during the week — and God knows we say a lot this week — we’re going to be focused on ...

Seriously. Run by 14 year-old girls. The second headline on ESPN.com this morning is "Brady calls out Burress." A story from two days ago. Despite having just kind of acquired Johan Santana, ...

Brady Reacts to Burress' Comments

... Tom Brady took exception to Plaxico Burress' comments yesterday, remarking that he should give the Pats offense more credit than saying they'd only score 17 points. He then went on to talk about how he learned never to talk about his play or another opponent, and how they don't care what others say and blah, blah, blah. This is just the latest incident of showing how much the Pats, and Brady in particular, do care what people say. And this is just the latest incident that deepens my already burning hatred for the Pats and Brady. ...

... , but for the first time in recent memory, a Belichick coaching decision killed the Patriots. In the third quarter, Billy B. blew off a perfectly makable field goal in a 10-7 game, and the Patriots gave the ball up on downs. Sure, they scored a minute later, but when your offense is struggling to move the ball, can you afford to give up free points? I say no. -- Perhaps you remember Tom Brady's response to Plaxico Burress predicting last week that the Giants would win the Super Bowl. "We're only going to score 17 points?"
