Braves in on Lowe but not that much....
Mets Fever —
I've thought for awhile that the Braves could be a dark horse for Derek Lowe, especially after the Peavy trade fell apart and they missed out on both Burnett and Furcal, it would seem they have money to spend. The once vaunted Atlanta rotation isn't nearly as imposing and a case could be made for them needing Lowe more then any team. Lowe would have to be extending his parameters to the east and not just the northeast, I'm not sure if you can consider them a World Series contender but still I could see them making a run. It sounds like the braves are interested but not at what he will cost which seems to have virtually eliminated them from contention unless they drastically change their ...

... Bowman on the Braves' chances of signing Derek Lowe
It looks like they're waiting for other teams to drop out before they make an offer. My feeling all off-season has been that the Braves don't view Lowe as a number-1 starter, and thus aren't really prepared to give him that kind of money. ...
Mets Out on Kenshin Kawakami, Braves Unlikely For Lowe
Mets-Prospectus —
Rotowire is reporting that both the Mets and Braves are out of the running for Japanese hurler Kenshin Kawakami. Not sure if their interest in him was any ever higher than minimal. I myself was never that interested as he had a good curve, but average fastball, at best, and has a lot of mileage on his arm. You would think losing out on another player(Peavy, Burnett, Furcal) you would think the Braves would be all over Derek Lowe but…
On the Braves Official site Mark Bowman says that, while the Braves have some interest in Lowe they may not even have enough interest to up the 3 year $36 million dollar offer that Lowe ...
Starting Pitcher: Things to heat up with Lowe
MetsBlog.com —
In a report for Newsday, Kat O’Brien explains, “Things could get busy again in the baseball world this week. For the Mets, negotiations are expected to heat up for Derek Lowe.”
In an on-air report for the MLB Network, SI.com’s Jon Heyman recently said Lowe rejected Omar Minaya’s three-year, $36 million offer, because he is seeking $16 million per season.
John Perrotto of Baseball Prospectus believes Lowe is still seeking a five-year, $80 million deal, like he was at the start of the off-season.
According to Heyman, the Braves, Phillies and Red Sox, and maybe the Brewers and Angels, are also showing ...

Starting Pitcher: Who’s In It for Lowe
MetsBlog.com —
In a post to his blog for SI.com, Jon Heyman writes:
“The Mets made an offer of about $36 million over three years to Derek Lowe… However, indications are that Lowe isn’t seriously considering that proposal, and that several other teams are currently leading the chase.”
According to Heyman, the Braves and Phillies also have shown interest, as have the Red Sox, and ‘the Brewers and Angels may also be lurking,’
However, Brewers GM Doug Melvin told reporters today, “We’re not in on him,” when asked about Lowe, according to MLB.com.
And, according to Ken Rosenthal, at ...
On Lowe meeting with Atlanta...
Mets Fever —
From the same source who reported on Christmas Eve that the Mets were close to a deal, is now reporting that Derek Lowe will meet with Braves officials today. According to a baseball source, Lowe is scheduled to meet with representatives of the Braves this afternoon in Atlanta. source Boston Globe I'm not surprised that this comes on the heels of yesterdays lunch for two reasons, the Boras camp needs to drum up interest in their client to get the Mets to increase their bid and Lowe's free agency is coming to a close. It's been reported in Atlanta that the Braves wouldn't be willing to outbid the Mets' initial offer, so unless they've had a ...
