Braves 8, Marlins 0 Well, when it rains it pours, I guess. We held the Marlins to 3 hits and struck ‘em out 16 times (Smoltz got 10 strikeouts in 5 shoulder-wincing innings, and is now 6 from 3000). Meanwhile, Chipper Jones went 4-4 by himself, doubling and launching two homers and raising his average to .443 — which leads baseball by, like, a lot. Chipper, Tex, and McCann homered back-to-back-to-back in the 5th inning, which looked cool and sort of sent a signal that it was going to be one of those nights for the offense. ...

Andruw Jones will walk to the plate at Turner Field in another team's uniform for the first time Friday, and his former Braves teammates say they fully expect him to be greeted with a chorus of cheers.
