Ryan Zimmerman 9th Inning Walk Off Home Run to Usher In Nationals Park
Published 3/31/2008 at FanIQ Blog
... New offering for all Nationals fans at the new ballpark: Happy Endings(!) according to Jon Miller.
If these keeps up Washington should have no trouble selling out for many years.
Nice of the Nationals to get a few runs in the first inning to welcome everyone in but they forgot to keep that up. Tim Hudson has his A+ stuff and the Nats didn't get another hit until the bottom of the ninth.
Cue: Ryan Zimmerman walk off.

Nationals 3, Braves 2
Well, it was an auspicious start for the Washington Nationals’ lovely new ballpark, no matter what some people think. I tried to get in, because they announced a few days before the game that they’d have 500 gameday-only $5 seats — after standing in line for an hour they sold out about 50 people before they got to me. There was a stiltwalker and a balloon animal blower to keep the kids happy, and red, white and blue decorations everywhere.
So I went home and watched the game on ESPN (listening to the audio on WGST ...

The National League East appeared to be a two-team race as Spring Training opened. The Mets have made the big splash with Santana, of course, and the Phillies return nearly all the players from last year's division championship team. But apparently, the Braves wanted it just a little bit less. I caught the last few innings of tonight’s Braves-Pirates game online via MLB.TV. You don't talk baseball in Atlanta without bringing Dale Murphy into the conversation. I get the sense now that he's something of a relic to Braves fans under 30, the ones who came of age after the 1991 team began their run.
