... — A first-inning four-run rally quickly escalated into a bench-clearing brawl between the Dayton Dragons and Peoria Chiefs tonight at Fifth Third Field that halted play for an hour and 9 minutes. The game was resumed at 8:51 p.m. after the league office in Beloit, Wis., reversed 17 ejections that were handed down following the brawl, which lasted about 10 minutes. The newspaper's video aired on the 11 p.m. SportsCenter. Broadcaster Neil Everett said pitcher Julio Castillo was arrested, however, the story does not read as so. ... for the lack of audio but you don’t need any sound to tell that the Peoria Chiefs and Dayton Dragons got into a nice scrap during Thursday’s game.
The Class Low-A Midwest League matchup featured three batters hit by pitch, a fan beaned by a pitcher, and a brawl all before the second inning. It’s usually a big square dance when two baseball teams clear the benches. Justin Reed of the Dayton Dragons wasn’t in the mood for dancing.
