Breaking: Anonymous NFL Source Thinks the Bears Will Be Very, Very Bad in 2008

But, hey, maybe if the folks in charge of making decisions for the Bears hear it enough, something will eventually change. Or not. Whatever. [link]

Brian Urlacher Is Still Waiting for That Raise
Published 7/18/2008 at FanHouse
... Training camp is less than two weeks away and the Bears are still a mess. Of course, no one expected the team to be magically transformed into contenders this offseason, but despite questions at just about every offensive position, there's also plenty of uncertainty with the team's best player, ...

Bears Primary Scoring Threat Devin Hester Calls in Sick on First Day of Work
Published 7/24/2008 at FanHouse
Filed under: Bears, NFC NorthSo much for my brilliant plan to save the Bears' season: move Rex Grossman to running back, try Kyle Orton at wideout and make Devin Hester the quarterback. The organization was able to extend the contract of middle linebacker Brian Urlacher, and sign first-round pick Chris Williams, but the most dangerous returner in the league was a no-show for the first day of work. Apparently, Chicago's primary scoring threat thinks he's worth more than the two years and ...

Past Precedent Says Minnesota Vikings Will Be Punished For Tampering Accusations

Last year the 49ers were punished for tampering with Lance Briggs of the Chicago Bears even though the only evidence was a set of phone calls from the 49ers to Briggs' agent, Drew Rosenhaus. Using this same standard, the Vikings should be punished (via the loss of draft picks) by the NFL assuming a phone log check would show an unusual amount of activity between a Vikings coach and Favre.
