Peter King: Nightmare in Green Bay
Published 7/7/2008 by Aaron Schatz at N/A
Peter King: Nightmare in Green Bay Peter King (who else?) has a good summary of why Brett Favre’s decision to un-retire causes so many problems for the Packers, but I’m actually not sure it causes as many problems as people think. Yes, like everyone else, I’m completely frustrated with Favre’s Hamlet performance every single offseason. Yes, the Packers have two years left on Aaron Rodgers’s rookie contract, and if they don’t give him the starting job now he’s going to be miserable and probably gone in 2010. Yes, that means they sort of wasted a first-round pick. However, it ...
Peter King: Brett Favre Wants to Play Football Again, Green Bay Packers Don't Want Him
Published 7/7/2008 by Michael David Smith at FanHouse
Filed under: PackersPeter King of Sports Illustrated has had a long, close relationship with Brett Favre, so when King writes that Favre wants to play in the NFL again, that's an indication that Favre is telling the people close to him that he wants to play in the NFL again. And this is what King writes today: what I can tell you for sure is this: No. 4 wants to play football again, and the Green Bay Packers desperately do not want him to.
Will he play? I don't know. I don't think he knows. He has, however, told coach ...

... have a quarterback, they just don’t know who it is yet, or how effective that quarterback will be this season. One would have to assume though that a better line and running game will improve whoever lines up behind Mangold, be it Favre or whoever takes snaps. I think though what Lombardi meant though is evident, they don’t have a franchise solidifying QB. But is Favre that person at this point in his career? Apparently all these shenanigans aren’t doing the Packers any favors, writes Peter King … ...

Brett Favre Tells Peter King That He Wants To Return To The NFL
Published 7/7/2008 at FanIQ Blog
For what has been way too long a time, we've been wondering if Brett Favre really wants to play football again. After all, numerous people have said he's coming back, while Favre has said he's retired.
Well, we can end all that speculation now. Favre definitively wants to play again.
How do I know? Because Peter King wrote about it today at SI. And he didn't mince his words.

Nightmare in Green Bay
Published 7/7/2008 by Brandon at Acme Packing Company: Front Page Posts
If Favre wants to return, then I welcome him back. I would wonder if he really means it, but the Packers are better with him. It could also lead to QB Aaron Rodgers likely departure in free agency after 2009, but risks in free agency are always part of football anyway.
What is the worst case scenario if Favre returns to the NFL? Peter King spells it out:
Overwhelmingly the team that makes the most sense to sign Favre for a couple of years is Minnesota. The Vikings are training Tarvaris Jackson to be their quarterback of the future, but he's ...

According to an SI.com report today, Brett Favre does indeed want to play football in 2008. And within the next ten days, Brett’s agent, Bus Cook, is expected to send a letter to the Green Bay Packers stating that Brett wants off the National Football League’s reserve/retired list. At that point, the Packers will have no choice but to re-admit Brett. The only problem is, the team doesn’t want to do this because they ...
Tuesday edition: Would you buy a Purple Favre jersey?
Published 7/8/2008 by Michael Rand at Randball
favre.jpg The recent ( and intensifying ) speculation that Brett Favre has the “itch” to come out of retirement — while Green Bay doesn’t share his sentiment — has led to a question from Rocket: if by some chance Favre wound up in Minnesota, would you buy his Vikings jersey? Three quick notes: 1) Vikings fans seem somewhat torn over the very remote possibility that Favre could be in Purple. We had a swear-filled e-mail exchange with Big Daddy Drew about this yesterday, and he might have swayed us over to the “[redacted] no!” camp. 2) Other Vikings players to have ...

The Packers, in turn, have done everything but tell him that they don’t want back. A Packers representative has even been sent to Mississippi to talk to Favre while the GM, Ted Thompson, is on vacation. While Favre “ponders” coming back and lets the threat of his return loom over the team like a giant fart cloud for a few months, he has put the Packers in a position where they get utterly buttfucked no matter what choice they decide to make once Favre makes up his mind seven years from now. They can take Favre back, in which case Aaron Rodgers angrily bolts in 2009 and leaves the team bereft at the position. They can cut Favre, fire Favre, in which case they get nothing in return, along with having to live with the fact that they cut poor Brett. Oh, the ...
