Rookie Brett Gardner singled home the winning run off Jonathan Papelbon with two outs in the 10th inning, and the Yankees overcame a two-run deficit to beat the Boston Red Sox 5-4 Sunday night for a four-game split.

Last night's 5-4 victory , the second win in a row against the Sox, is a nice push toward the All-Star break. The team gets a little momentum heading into a day off today, followed by an important mini-series with the Rays. And a little extra confidence never hurts. By the way, somebody needs to come up with a nickname for Brett Gardner immediately. The rookie singled home the winning run last night off none other than Jonathan Papelbon, and his 2-for-5 night is a great sign that he's settling into his new digs.
