 Brewers Blowing It Links5
The original title of this post was to be “Milwaukee Blows”, but I have a lot of friends and family in that state (my parents met at Madison, where my dad was briefly in the same graduate school program as Dick Cheney), so we’ll take it easy. The Brewers have blown a lot of leads this year — 13 times they have been ahead by at least three runs, and gone on to lose ... [link]

... P.S.  Since I wrote this article, I've found this over at Baseball Prospectus.  History is very definitely against the Brewers. ...

... So, it appears the best way to beat the Brewers is to spot them a lead -- and not just a small lead, but a three-run-plus lead. Over at Baseball Prospectus on Monday evening, Nate Silver, perhaps presciently, noted that Milwaukee had, through Sunday, blown 13 leads of three runs or more (and nine of those from July 28 through August 26). This number isn't a record -- the article says that twenty such blown leads (by the 1998 Mariners and 2000 Astros) is the most since 1959 -- but the Brewers moved up a notch on that list with last night's blown 3-0 lead. ...

Wednesday, August 29, 2007 (8/29/2007 11:47:00 AM) - Robert R. Baseball Prospectus posted this prophetic chart yesterday before the Brewers lost another game after having a three run lead. It's just amazing how high they could finish up this leaderboard. Obviously, it's a combination of things. The starters have let teams back into games after being staked to early leads. And, of course, the bullpen has had more than its share of struggles over the last few months. Bad luck, bad managing, and people not performing up to their capabilities have all played roles in this. ...

Friday Quick Hits

... The 2004 Reds had a lot in common with this year's Brewers. It's kind of sad the way they've fallen apart. Definitely would have preferred seeing them in the playoffs as opposed to the Cubs, but I'm not giving it to the Cubs just yet with St. Louis lurking. Amazing how they have hung around, but I suppose it's not all that tough in this division. ...

Watch out...The Reds are in contention

The Cincinnati Reds, once the worst team in MLB, have ran off six in a row and are only 6.5 games behind in the paltry NL Central. What does this mean? Means in somewhat of a likelihood, the Reds can still make a play towards the NLDS. The Brewers are falling fast and the Cards and Cubs are the only major threat to the Reds.

Clearest example of why Ned Yost needs to go away……

There are many here who know of my distaste of Brewer manager, Ned Yost.  I have stated pretty clearly that while I understand Ned has his positives that overall he is not the man for the job to guide this team on a go forward basis.  In ...

Biff Tannen's make like a tree and get out of here: Milwaukee Brewers

Does Milwaukee have anything good besides beer and the sausage race in the bottom half of the sixth inning? I mean seriously, we would rather watch a bunch of buttheads run around in sausage outfits instead of the sinking Brewers.
