The Gist: Game 28
Thunder Matt's SaloonBrewers 10 - Cubs 7 Selfishly, I went into this game hoping that Jason Marquis would pitch a gem. That result would be beneficial two-fold for us: first, it would mean that we'd most likely win the game and secondly, it would keep raising Marquis' trade value. A win/win situation. Not tonight. Even with career Cub-killer Ben Sheets having an off night (Christ! He walked 7 batters in 5 innings!), we still couldn't get it done. It's called hitting, not walking - Cubs lose 10-7
GoatRiders of the Apocalypse — ... But the real key is the hitting and pitching, and the Cubs were lacking in both departments. Game Report - Brewers 10 Cubs 7
Chuckie Hacks — ... would have been a blowout if not for Torres' little gas can performance in the 7th...or if we would have gotten more with bases loaded no outs with Braun and Fielder up (only 1 run). I'm not complaining. Check out the box score :This has to be the first time all year 4 different guys had 3 hits. Sheets didn't look good...but somehow he was able to labor through 5. Apparently that was the most walks he ever let up his entire career. The big news is that ...

FanIQ Blog — ... Milwaukee had a reset of sorts on their season, getting Ben Sheets back on the mound and Mike Cameron in centerfield for the first time after his 25-game suspension. Worked out well, despite Sheets not exactly being sharp. Cameron was 3-for-5, scoring two runs and driving in two more. One of the most overlooked aspects of the NL contenders this year is the Cubs pitching. It's not good, aside from Zambrano. Sports Illustrated might want to keep that in mind. Brewers 10, Cubs 7. ...
