BRONCOS CUT TRAVIS HENRY
Published 6/2/2008 by Michael David Smith at ProFootballTalk.com
The Denver Broncos announced today that they have released running back Travis Henry.“Although Travis has the ability to be one of the top running backs in the NFL, we have to make decisions that are in the best interests of our organization and its goal of winning a Super Bowl,” coach Mike Shanahan said. “We did not feel his commitment to the Broncos was enough to warrant a spot on this football team.” It’s not clear what Shanahan was referring to when he questioned Henry’s commitment. Henry has had multiple violations of the league’s substance-abuse policy, but in the past Shanahan has publicly supported Henry, including taking Henry’s side last year during Henry’s ...

What About the Children? Broncos Cut Travis Henry
Published 6/2/2008 by TheBigLead at The Big Lead
Our immediate thought, upon hearing the Broncos cut running back Travis Henry: geez, perhaps Selvin Young will have a crack at 2,000 yards after all. Once we finished our bowl of Cookie Crisp, reality set in: Dude’s got nine kids! Henry’s lawyer’s previously stated his client doesn’t have any money. What team wants to take a chance on a 29-year-old marijuana-smoker with mounting alimony payments? Have a heart, Daniel Snyder. And you’ll make Mike Shanahan look like a prick while you’re at it. There’s always Dancing with the Stars, right? Travis Henry, Out in Denver (Bronco ...

Ex-Bronco Travis Henry's New Career Not Working Out So Well [Nfl]
Published 10/1/2008 by Dashiell Bennett at Deadspin
... It's safe to say that Travis Henry's last year or so has been a little rough. Signed by the Denver Broncos before the 2007 season, the former Bills and Titans running back immediately failed a drug test (which he challenged and won), then put up an mediocre 691 yards rushing in 12 games, before being unceremoniously dumped over the summer after Mike Shanahan said he was "too inconsistent as a person." (Ouch. That's a new one.) So he did what any 29-year-old football veteran who realizes his career is over way sooner than he expected would do — he decided to sell some ...
