Well-traveled 37-year-old center Doug Weight just signed a one-year contract with the Islanders. The deal is worth $1.75 million plus performance bonuses that could push the value to $4.3 million. Weight spent last season in Anaheim, where he had 10 goals and 15 assists for 25 point sin 67 games. ... And just so we don't end on a sour note, I like Doug Weight to the Islanders because they need more centers, and they have a lot of young players who'll benefit from his experience. I think it's funny that everyone on the Islanders is super old or super young. There's no middle ground there. ...

The New York Islanders have signed veteran center Doug Weight to a one year $1.75 million dollar contract. As a said yesterday the Islanders were targeting Weight and I also said after signing Mark Streit they should add a veteran forward and go with the youngsters and so far they have also done that. They also signed goalie Yann Danis to a one year two way contract.
