Burrell and Moyer to Be Offered Arbitration?
Phightin' Phils Phorum —
Pat Burrell, Jamie Moyer, Tom Gordon, and Rudy Seanez are the four players the Phillies have to decide whether to offer arbitration to or not. If the Phillies offer a player arbitration and they accept the Phillies could face an arbitrator that would decide the players salary. If they offer arbitration and the player signs with another team, the Phillies would receive a draft pick. Burrell and Moyer are considered type A players so they would get the first round pick of the team that signed them and a sandwich pick (a special pick between the first and second round of the draft). Offering Moyer arbitration is a no brainer as the team would love to sign the 46 year old to a one year deal instead of ...

Oliver Perez, Luis Ayala, Pedro Martinez, Moises Alou, Damion Easley, Tony Armas Jr., Orlando Hernandez, Ramon Martinez, Trot Nixon, Ricardo Rincon and Matt Wise are the players the New York Mets have that are arbitration eligible. The Mets will offer Perez arbitration as they want him to return. Ayala may also be offered arbitration as the Mets would like him in a set up role in 2009. The rest of the eligibles are not expected to be offered arbitration and will probably move on. The most notable being Pedro and Alou. Pat Burrell, Jamie Moyer, Tom Gordon, and Rudy Seanez are the four
