Butler Wins Horizon: How High Will the Bulldogs Be Seeded? Links8
Jim Boeheim can breathe easy for at least another 12 hours. No bids were stolen last night. Butler 70, Cleveland St. 55 Bulldogs make it official and give the Selection Committee an awful lot of reasons to make them a 3-seed. 29-3, 18 RPI is very solid. Big negatives: lost to Drake at home, and totally blew their one storming the court opportunity. I realize they've been here ... [link]

Summit League Mascots Take No Prisoners
Published 3/12/2008 at The Sporting Blog
By Spencer Hall Laugh all you like, but beneath the costume fur and smiles, the savage heart of a competitor beats in every mascot. And like some competitions do, an innocent dance contest between Eli from Oral Roberts University and Jawz from IUPUI broke out into ruthless violence at the Summit League Championship last night. Jawz came prepared, executing a hybridized o-goshi judo throw on Eli to score points and win the scorecards for IUPUI. Points should also be awarded for the men pulling the mascots apart not breaking into gales of laughter on court. HT: FanIQ ...

Oral Roberts Beats IUPUI in Summit League Title Game, Mascots Ejected for Fighting
Published 3/12/2008 by Michael David Smith at FanHouse
Filed under: Mid-Majors Basketball, March Madness, NCAA Basketball VideoOral Roberts beat IUPUI 71-64 Tuesday night to win the Summit League and advance to the NCAA Tournament, but the highlight of the game came when the mascots got into a fight: (Via Fan IQ) Jawz the Jaguar, IUPUI's mascot, has a Facebook page, but I've always been partial to Eli the Eagle, who was hatched out of a papier-mache egg before a basketball game in 1993, symbolizing a new era in Oral Roberts University athletics. Both mascots were escorted off the court after the fight was ...

Summit Mascot Fight!

IUPUI lost to Oral Roberts in the Summit League Championship last night, but that's not where the battle was. Let's play the feud! Oh my god! That's Jawz the Jaguar's Music!!! And the belly to belly suplex! Butler Wins Horizon: How High Will the Bulldogs Be Seeded? (Fan IQ)

Another mascot fight: Jawz the Jaguar vs. Eli the Eagle
Published 3/12/2008 by PostmanR at The Postmen // A Sports Blog // Chicago, IL.
This video (via FanIQ) doesn’t show the whole fight between IUPUI’s Jawz the Jaguar and Oral Roberts’ Eli the Eagle from OR’s NCAA tourney-clinching win against IUPUI last night, but the fight in its entirety is not the point here. The point here is to display the horrors of mascot violence, in an order to put an end to it. We asked for peace here; we still have not gotten in. It’s time for a bed-in or perhaps some bagism, people.

When men in giant-headed furry costumes attack
Published 3/12/2008 at The Dagger
Continuing with today's mascot theme, Oral Roberts' Eli the Eagle and IUPUI's Jawz the Jaguar got to scrappin' last night. Easy, ladies. One of you is going to break a nail.  These two are a disgrace, compared to the majestic Big Red of WKU. Big Red's way too classy to get involved in a scuffle like that, and if he had, he'd have murdered either of these sock-chewin' punks with one big red paw tied behind his back. I wonder what started this thing. On one hand, I have noticed that people named Eli have had such an arrogance and a sense of entitlement since the ...

College Basketball Tournaments Are Awfully Tense
Published 3/12/2008 by Chris at Intentional Foul
Just ask the mascots from Oral Roberts and IUPUI. Apparently, the drama unfolding during the game was just too much for these caricatures to handle and so they decided to let off some of the built up steam. On each other. To quote Rich Eisen, we’re playing the feud: As indicated earlier, Oral Roberts wound up beating Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (WTH kind of name is that for a school? Are you trying to confuse your students?), 74-61. However, it looks like the ORU mascot, Eli the Eagle, took the worst of that particular dust-up. H-T to FanHouse (via ...

MASCOT FIGHT!
Published 3/12/2008 at With Leather
Last night the Summit League [the what? -Ed.] Championship was played between IUPUI [the where? -Ed.] and Oral Roberts [rabid Christian guy, right? -Ed.], and things were so contentious that even the mascots mixed it up.  Here we see Jawz the Jaguar ruining Eli the Eagle's shit... further proof that only nonsectarian eagles are tough enough to cut it on the sidelines; born-again mascots just don't have that same edge.  WARNING BAD PUN AHEAD Or, put another way: birds of prey > birds of pray!
