... According to Metsblog.com, as per a report from WFAN in New York, the Tigers have called the NY Mets to gage their interest in Dontrelle Willis. It is no secret Omar Minaya has long coveted Dontrelle. It may be easier for Minaya to deal for him now that he is outside the division. In order to complete such a trade, the Tigers would want the Mets to take on additional salary in the form of Ivan Rodriguez. ... (You're picking the wrong fight, Stephen A.!) For what it's worth, Dontrelle has heard the rumor and thinks it's bunk. (Of course, I wouldn't put it past Dombrowski to at least call Omar Minaya -- if Jim Bowden of all people was able to pull a fast one past Minaya by getting Lastings Milledge for Ryan Church and Brian Schneider, then Dombrowski had to be curious what a competent general manager like himself might be able to do.)
