By The Way, Cornell Is Beating Stanford On Thursday
Okay I may have officially lost it, I'm convinced that Cornell will pull an opening round upset over Stanford in Anaheim on Thursday. I don't know if the fact that the program hasn't been to the NCAA tournament since 1988 has altered my judgement, but I'm 99.9% sure of a Cornell victory. I was even able to find someone who agrees. WatchDog makes vow of Cornell silence - 'til Thursday
Look at the bright side, everyone. I'm only the second most annoying Cornell alum in the media . . . if you count fictional sitcom characters. As a reward for your patience, I shall not mention the Big Red again until after Thursday's upset of Stanford. Thanks for reading.
Stanford’s Defense Crushes Cornell 77-53
The good news was that the Cornell Big Red got to the NCAA tournament but the bad news is that they drew Stanford as their opponent; a combination of Stanford’s stifling defense and 55% shooting from the floor was more than Cornell could handle, as #3 Stanford easily disposed of #14 Cornell Thursday in the NCAA South regional at Honda Center at Anaheim, CA. Stanford’s high ...

Golly, those Stanford dudes were really, really tall
Well . . . At least we're getting closer. Remember, Cornell fans, we lost by 40 to Arizona in 1988. We could make it really interesting in 2028! Sigh. Well, it was fun while it lasted. On to what really matters: The ECAC hockey semifinals and final will be live on the NHL Network Friday and Saturday. SNY will show the semis on delay Saturday afternoon starting at 1 and the final ...
Stanford hammers Cornell: Thoughts on the game (and on Marquette)
It’s halftime, but this one’s over. Despite CBS analyst Jay Bilas’ repeated attempts to create drama, none exists. The only question is whether Stanford wins by 15, 25 or 35. Based on this performance, and on how Marquette played against Kentucky, I’d guess the Cardinal... Continue reading...
Pre-game Stanford-Cornell: Harbaugh’s everywhere, Judd’s not, Marquette xxx
I should get right into high-quality game analysis, I know, but the sight of Stanford football Coach Jim Harbaugh wearing a flashing gold T-shirt and screaming for Marquette over Kentucky kind of distracted me. And the lack of Ashley Judd, who was not here to cheer on her beloved Wildcats…... Continue reading...
Stanford and the NCAA: Keys to surviving the Madness
The NCAA tournament selection committee was kind to Stanford, much kinder than last year. Last year, Stanford got a bad draw — not that it deserved a good one, but Louisville in Lexington at 3 a.m. (or whatever) was definition of a bad draw. This year, Stanford gets Cornell and then... The fans at Honda Center will see No. 3 Stanford and their dominating inside game against underdog Cornell, a team that has not lost since playing Duke in early January, when the South Region tips off Thursday. Cornell women amused by first-round patsy UConn
Connecticut? Connecticut? The NCAA selection committees continue to insult the upstart Cornell men and women by patronizing them with inferior first-round challenges. Stanford? Stanford? This is going to be way easier than I ever dreamed, so easy I'm willing to overlook being given a No. 14 seed rather than the No. 13 I insisted upon last week.
