Byrd extends scoreless streak in win
CLEVELAND -- Peer pressure is a powerful thing. When Paul Byrd took the mound for Tuesday's series opener with the A's, he had a potent precedent to uphold. Indians' starters C.C. Sabathia, Aaron Laffey, Fausto Carmona and Cliff Lee hadn't allowed a run in their last 27 innings of work, and Byrd was feeling the pressure to keep that stretch going. Blue Collar teams are winning the right way

Pitching, Defense, and Timely hitting: Cleveland Indians. The Tribes starting pitchers have been dominant, pitching 34 consecutive scoreless innings (Tom Hamilton said 39 on the radio broadcast last night but I'll take Anthony Castrovince's word for it, since I can link to it.) Asdrubal Cabrera has been amazing in the field making diving ...

The highlight of this series has to be the amazing pitching, especially from the starters. Following the back-to-back nine-inning shutouts from Lee and Carmona, from the last series with Toronto, Paul Byrd had his finest performance of the year going seven and a third and striking out seven without giving up a run in a 4-0 Tribe win. The gem of ...
