... as the Indians have signed him to a minor league deal to provide a warm body take up innings for the Tribe, no matter what might happen. At least Weaver is long past the point of getting big dollars on the strength of his best season (which was 14-11 with the Dodgers in '05), or the strength of a very good postseason in '06 with the Cardinals (surprised that ...

Bottom-Feeding Front Office Signs Jeff Weaver

... that Jeff Weaver was traded to the Yankees for Ted Lilly in the deal that netted the Tigers Jeremy Bonderman, and would eventually land Carlos Pena in Tampa Bay (via Oakland et al).  Something tells me that the Yankees wouldn’t mind getting that one back. The fact that Paul Hoynes is even considering the journeyman Weaver to be C.C. They have relievers starting for now. But apparantly this is for when C.C. is traded if Fausto hasn't come back yet. He won't finish the year on the ...

... is reporting that the Pirates have sent Tom Gorzelanny to Triple A, though there has been no announcement as to who will replace him in the rotation.  Gorzelanny has gone 6-7 with a 6.57 ERA and a 1.83 WHIP.  He is going to be back, so if you were holding onto him for some reason, you might as well keep waiting.  I wouldn’t have still had him on my roster, however, though he could prove useful in the 2nd half if he comes back strong. Paul Hoynes of The Cleveland Plain Dealer (click here for the post) is reporting that the Indians hae signed Jeff Weaver.  Weaver had been ...
