Patrick Ewing Jr. deserves a trip to the Gold Club
sports.yahoo.com 4/4/2008 — Thank goodness Junior didn't inherit the old man's knees, or he'd never be able
to pull of something like this:
That's one of the better college dunks you'll ever see. It certainly stirred
something in Drew Neitzel. The way he congratulated ...
LADY VOLS ADVANCE TO THE NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP GAME
rockytoptalk.com 4/7/2008 — Load-bearing, that thing. Also serves as nice decoy. Image by Adrian Barnes It was only fitting that Candace Parker put her team on her sore shoulder and carried them to another appearance in an NCAA championship game. Parker went only 6-27 for 13 points, but she had 15 rebounds and the team's back all night. The team had hers as well. Shannon Bobbitt hit three ...

Congratulations To Candace Parker and the Tennessee Vols
thestartingfive.net 4/9/2008 — Candace Parker and the Vols shut down one of the most prolific triangle offenses ever. It's ridiculous to think they held Candice Wiggins and the Stanford Cardinal to 45 points after averaging 90 in the last two tournament games. With the win, Parker cemented herself as one of the five best women's college basketball players of all time. Who is on your list?

2008 WNBA Draft Live Blog
thearena.wordpress.com 4/9/2008 — Maybe the strangest thing about women’s basketball at the highest level is that the WNBA Draft is one day after the NCAA Championship Game. (I said maybe.)

"COVER GIRL": The One Thing Candace Parker Can't Do
cosellout.com 4/14/2008 — Candace Parker can shoot, pass, board, dribble, and has been dunking since age 14. She'll go on any playground in America and embarass all the boys. She will dislocate her shoulder, get it popped right back in, rub some dirt on it and continue playing. But there is one thing that Candace Parker cannot do... and it makes her like just about every other female athlete in sports...

I'm not here to bash women's hoops because, well, I have no quarrels with it. Do I watch? Um, no. But I'm sure plenty of people do (see: these guys ), and I'm sure the female participants are quite talented (see: Candace Parker).
Having said that, we can all agree that women's basketball doesn't hold down a large piece of real estate in the overall sporting landscape. ...
WNBA: Candace Parker and Lisa Leslie now teammates —
InsideHoops
The AP reports: Los Angeles Sparks coach Michael Cooper couldn’t help but get a little carried away talking about Candace Parker’s arrival and Lisa Leslie’s return. “This is ‘Showtime’ at its best,” Cooper said, referring to the Los Angeles Lakers teams that won three NBA championships in the 1980s. “This is Kareem (Abdul-Jabbar), Magic (Johnson) ...

A women's basketball post, but probably not the one you wanted —
The Dagger
I've
gotten several e-mails asking why I haven't written anything women's basketball,
and about how Candace Parker and Tennessee deserve my respect, and how women's
college basketball is great, blah blah blah.
Fine. Congratulations to Tennessee, Candace Parker is great (I love the long
sleeves), and women's basketball is fantastic. Happy?

Terps Taken in the WNBA Draft —
It Never Rains in College Park
They did their school proud, and now they get to go pro. And like Juan Dixon several years ago, one Maryland alum will still be local. Crystal Langhorne was drafted 6th overall by the Washington Mystics, and Laura Harper was drafted 10th overall by the Sacramento Monarchs . Candace Parker went No. 1 overall to the L.A. Sparks, as expected, and Tennessee and Rutgers both had multiple ...

Well, that was a sad ending to an exciting if not particularly well-played game. In case you missed it, LSU held a 1-point lead with 7.1 seconds to play with Tennessee taking out the ball underneath its own basket. Out of a timeout, we put on a full-court man-to-man press, but Candace Parker beat the defender to the sideline and then outran her down the wing before hitting an open player ...
