The House That Dewey Built —
... One off topic thought: the death of former Sox pitcher Josh Hancock hits a little close to home, as he was born exactly 4 days before I was. I remember when the Sox drafted him, and it wasn’t long ago when he was considered one of the team’s best pitching prospects. R.I.P, buddy.

Hancock v. Mike Shannon's Steaks and Seafood
Sports Law Blog —
... The title is the caption to a lawsuit filed last week in Missouri state court by Dean Hancock, the father of St. Louis Cardinals reliever Josh Hancock and the executor of Josh's estate. Josh was killed in a car accident April 29 when the rented SUV he was driving slammed into the back of a stopped tow truck in the left lane of a multi-lane highway in St. Louis. Hancock had left one bar (Mike Shannon's) and was on his way to a second bar to meet his girlfriend. Reports indicate Hancock had a blood-alcohol level of 0.157, was traveling above the posted speed limit, and talking to his girlfriend on his cell phone when the crash occurred. The Cardinals Like To Drink And Drive...
Chuckie Hacks —
...Often. Who could forget manager Tony LaVodka passing out at a stoplight last spring? Then, pitcher Josh Hancock died while driving drunk. Now, it's the red soul patch wearing Scott Spiezio who's wanted for DUI (among other things) by the police for an earlier auto accident. Jeesh...I know St Louis is home to that piss water in a can known as Budweiser, but mix in a cab once in a while.
DoucheNugget of the Week: The MLB Brass
The Shooter's Lounge —
Over the last couple year, the head honchos at MLB have found a lot of nitpicky little bullshit things to focus on. While players have been injecting steroids, receiving HGH in the mail, and having alcohol and anger management issues, the goobers in the front office have been worrying about bullshit topics like whether Terry Francona and Lou Pinella are wearing their jerseys under their pullover jackets, how much gray was on Aramis Ramirez's shoes, and making Justin Miller wear long sleeves so his tattoos wouldn't ...
Furcal Returns
Sabernomics —
... on and of the field. Furcal’s second DUI in the city that I live really soured me. At the time, I wanted the Braves to suspend him for the season. I don’t think he even got the night off. I find it amazing that Barry Bonds can’t find a job because of his association with performance-enhancing drugs, yet you don’t even see Furcal’s drunk driving issues mentioned. It hasn’t even been two years since Josh Hancock was killed in a drunk driving accident.
Don’t individuals deserve a chance to make up for their ...
