HBO is producing a documentary on the Duke-North Carolina rivalry. It is bad enough that ESPN and all its tentacles put the Blue Devils and Heels above all other programs, but now one of the leading ESPN alternatives is continuing this larger (and largely unchallenged) media narrative. Like all other HBO docs, I am sure it will be good. I just wish they had picked a different subject. ...

... alive for when State’s basketball program mattered. Instead, they believe the utterly asinine thought-line (that’s even come from our Athletic Director) that NC State can’t be Duke or North Carolina. That is utter malarkey because a couple of decades ago, Duke was half the program that State was. Now, not so much, and often it seems like the university as a whole has surrendered to mediocrity. Or cowardice, take your pick.

Now HBO is coming to the aid of those people by doing a documentary about this long running rivalry. From what I have read in an article on Sports Illustrated.com the show should come out in February `09 and will be titled "Duke vs. North Carolina". ...
