MLB.com: Carpenter exits with arm injury Cardinals ace Chris Carpenter was removed from Sunday night’s game against the Cubs due to a right triceps strain. Carpenter, making his third start since returning from Tommy John reconstructive elbow surgery, cruised through the first five innings before running into trouble and then coming down with some sort of injury in the sixth. On his 66th pitch of the game, an 0-1 offering to Jim Edmonds, Carpenter yanked the pitch well inside and immediately summoned catcher Yadier Molina to the mound.
