CBS Suits Seriously Considering Packer Ouster?
Bob Raissman of the NEW YORK DAILY NEWS reports that the suits at CBS are restless about renewing Billy Packer for next season because of comments he made during the Final Four KU-UNC game: ( Beware: Despite docile appearance, Leatherback Sea Turtles can still snap your finger right off ) The smoke has not fully cleared from the 2008 NCAA Tournament. Rumors Flying That Billy Packer Might Finally Be Out At CBS

... even told a woman worker at Cameron Indoor Stadium, "Since when do we let women control who gets into a men's basketball game? Why don't you go find a women's game to let people into?" Every single time CBS defends the guy and for what? All of the sexist, racist and idiotic remarks take a backseat to the guy losing the network millions of dollars. Either way.....it's time to make the move CBS. Billy Packer can't dance around the stir at CBS (NY Daily News) CBS Suits Seriously Considering Packer Ouster? Billy Packer may have called his last Final Four

... end up happening, the data shows that there won't be a lot of tears shed for Mr. Packer in the sports blogosphere (he's all the way down at the bottom). I'm not as anti-Packer as the rest of the world appears to be, but the man has called the last 34 Final Fours. It's got to end at some point If this was indeed his last one, no one's going to be heading to their grave saying, "If only I could have heard more Billy Packer." Gracias, Sports by Brooks.

Is Billy Packer in Trouble at CBS?

... for this, he's getting a raw deal. It's high irony, or highrony if you prefer. Packer blows the call of Memphis failing to foul on Kansas's game-tying possession on Monday night, years of trash get defended by the network beyond the reasonable expectation for any public figure and then a rare, accurate assessment of a game gets rewarded with a pink slip. The last thing we need is more announcers who lie to us about the things we see right in front of our eyes. (H/T SportsbyBrooks)   Permalink | Email this ...

Will CBS Give Billy Packer The Pink Slip?
Published 4/21/2008 by Anthony Hall at MVN Outsider
... decide to show Packer the door. Bill Raftery is a helluva lot more entertaining than Packer, and deserves a chance as CBS’ top college basketball commentator. Does a declaration that the Kansas-UNC game was ‘over’ warrant Packer’s firing? I don’t think so. More than anything, I’d just like to see him leave the network because CBS has better commentators than Packer who deserve to move up a notch in the broadcasting ranks. HT: SPORTSbyBROOKS

Report: CBS Finally Pulling the Plug on Billy Packer
Published 10 days ago by jason at SPORTSbyBROOKS
For all those hoping that Billy Packer would soon be sent packing from CBS basketball broadcasts, your prayers have apparently been answered . Billy Packer looking at sign Barry Jackson of the MIAMI HERALD reports that the aggravating analyst will not be returning to the network next season, ending 27 years as a b-ball blowhard for the Columbia Broadcasting System. Both Packer & a CBS spokesperson confirmed Sunday night that Billy wasn’t coming back.
