STATELINE — Quarterback Trent Dilfer said he is retiring from football on Wednesday in Lake Tahoe. The former Fresno State player won a Super Bowl with the Baltimore Ravens and owns a home at Incline Village. Amid reports that he recently tore an Achilles tendon, veteran quarterback Trent Dilfer has announced his retirement from football. “I injured my Achilles while I was on vacation with my family,” Dilfer said Wednesday.  “ I was going to retire anyway .  This just gives clarity to the situation.  There will be a formal announcement in the next few days about that.” Dilfer was the sixth overall pick in the 1994 draft, and he played for the Bucs, Ravens, Seahawks, Browns, and 49ers in 14 NFL seasons.  He won a Super Bowl in 2000 with the Ravens, and then left the team via free agency.
