Ray Allen scored 18 points and Kevin Garnett had 16 as the two newcomers who led the Boston Celtics to the NBA's best record sparked them to a 104-81 win Sunday night in their playoff opener against the Atlanta Hawks. Garnett stopped a 14-3 Hawks run with a jumper, starting a six-point Boston surge that made it 35-27 in the second quarter. [link]

... After an explosive opening to the game (literally thanks to the fireworks display), things started to get a little iffy in the second quarter (I think New England fans are still a little gun-shy about "sure things" in sports, and will panic at the slightest hint that an upset is in the making) ... No worries, though, as the troops got over their early postseason jitters and eventually "settled" on an 104-81 victory (sports.yahoo.com). Now we hafta wait until WEDNESDAY for Game Two? Awww ...

Undoubtedly, Rondo was fantastic throughout the contest last night. The numbers don't lie: He went 6-for-9 from the field, finished with 15 points, 9 assists 6 boards and no turnovers, and he completely shut down Mike Bibby, who shot just 2-for-10 for the game. A very impressive effort to say the least. He effectively controlled the Celtics' offense and looked splendid defensively.
